Latest Updates from Our Project:

May 2025 Update
about 1 year ago – Wed, May 28, 2025 at 08:58:48 AM

Hello Accursed,

I don't have much news to share with you in this update, but I do have a great place to learn more about Curseborne! Coming in just over a week...

Onyx Path Virtual Gaming Convention 2025 is just around the corner! As they enter the final weeks of preparation, the schedule is settling in. Some panels and actual plays needed minor tweaks, which is normal for this stage of the game. People’s availability shifts and schedule issues bubble up, but so far they’ve been able to roll with the punches pretty easily and are on track for a smooth, fun, and informative show!

They’re also getting games for attendees to play ramped up via Startplaying.games. There are already a few games set up, and your encouraged to consider setting one up yourself, if you like running games! It’s a great opportunity to try out games you might not otherwise get the chance to, meet new players, and make a few bucks. Onyx Path's partners at Envoy who run convention games for them will also be running games via Startplaying.games and those entries will be showing up very soon at https://startplaying.games/event/onyx-path-2025!

As noted, all panels will be streaming on Onyx Path's Twitch channel running Friday June 6 - Sunday June 8, and Actual Plays will be streaming at Plastic Age Plays channel. I'd suggest checking out

  • On Friday June 6 at 6:30 PM EDT, the Making of Curseborne panel will focus on the road up to last year’s reveal of Curseborne at Onyx Path Con. From the concept, to the look, to the video teasers released in the lead up, this panel will provide a look at where Curseborne has come from.
  • On Saturday June 7 at 1:00 PM EDT, the Curseborne Player’s Guide Preview/ Q&A and Character Creation panel will dive into options available to players in Curseborne and take a look at what’s to come in the Curseborne Player’s Guide.
  • On Sunday June 8 at 11:00 AM EDT, the Future of Curseborne panel willlook at recent releases, such as the Tasty Bits and the updated Ashcan Edition, but also discuss the immediate future of the line and beyond.

Symbol of Murder

Symbol of Murder presents the fifth in a year of monthly adversaries for the Curseborne RPG. Within these pages, you’ll find a new phantasmal threat made up from a collection of tormented spirits. The Symbol of Murder is the terror of any necromancer and a true blight in any city, providing a lasting echo of suffering and death.

Alongside traits and powers aimed at different tiers of play, this Tasty Bit includes a selection of story seeds and hooks so you can create one or more sessions of play surrounding the Symbol of Murder adversary.

April 2025 Update
about 1 year ago – Wed, Apr 30, 2025 at 07:37:01 AM

Hello Accursed!

It's the final Wednesday of the month, and that means it's Curseborne Day! So it's time for our regular monthly update. First up, Onyx Path's latest "Tasty Bit" antagonist for your Curseborne game.

The Quisivore

Many of the Accursed — particularly the Ascetic and Archivist Families — ask a lot of questions about the world around them. Most know that asking the wrong kinds of questions of the wrong kind of people or in the wrong kinds of places can get you killed. Very few realize that even the act of asking a question can be horrifying. Thus is the nature of the quisivore.

It appears to be a different kind of predator, one who only feeds on human curiosity. For some strange reason, it’s unable to ask a question itself, and can only feed on those who do ask questions. However, it isn’t one of the Hungry, or even one of the Accursed. As far as anyone who has ever run into one has reported, it’s a pile of strange red ooze that’s able to take a human shape. If it was ever a human, it clearly isn’t one now.

Available in PDF: Storypath Tasty Bit: Quisivore for Curseborne!

Rewards Still Pending

The manuscript for our main reward is now in the final development stage, having moved on from Editing. The Tangled Webs supplement has also advanced into it's spot in Editing (and it looks like I've got a dot to fill in there on Development! Next month!), and the Curseborne Fiction Anthology is now it first draft status. Bits and pieces moving forward.

March 2025 Update
about 1 year ago – Wed, Mar 26, 2025 at 07:18:42 AM

Hello Accursed,

It's the final Wednesday of the month, and that is Curseborne Day. So I've got our regular monthly update as well as Onyx Path's latest "Tasty Bit" antagonist for your game.

The Living Epoch

Everybody has regrets. That girl you never plucked up the courage to kiss. That job you never went for. That flight you had every intention of making, if only you hadn’t got drunk the night before.

Imagine you could do those things again, only do them right? Wouldn’t that be nice?

The living epoch offers you the chance for a do over. All you have to do is give up a part of yourself.

Available in PDF: Storypath Tasty Bit: The Living Epoch for Curseborne!

Rewards Still Pending

Now that the main book is all sorted based on your feedback and in final editing, the developers have really focused on the Tangled Webs supplement and that's zoomed through the writing process and now the approved manuscript is in one final round of development before heading to editing itself. I'll see if I can coax a preview or two from the team to share over the next few months.

Chosen by the gods, their power tempered only by human hearts, the Exalted are all that stand between Creation and the forces that would ruin the world. Set in a rich and intriguing setting that draws from real-world histories and fantasy archetypes, Exalted: Essence features streamlined rules for a new way of playing a classic game, incorporating story-focused action and a presentation designed to appeal to new players and longtime fans alike.

The Exalted: Essence Player’s Guide is a book chock full of player-facing content. Within, we’ll walk you through how to think about playing your character, what kind of person they might shape up to be, and how to consider their strengths and weaknesses as well as Intimacies and Virtues. Beyond advice for roleplaying, each chapter also contains dozens of new Charms for characters to take, shaping the outcome of your campaigns.

Unlike other Exalted books, this does not contain any new setting material. It’s all about your character and your campaigns. Most books also speak directly to the Storyteller, assuming they’re the person who does most of the reading. Not so here! If you’re a player in a game of Exalted, this book is for you. You don’t have to read the whole thing cover to cover, but the section that applies to your character has so much there for you.

Learn what it means to be Exalted.

February 2025 Update
over 1 year ago – Wed, Feb 26, 2025 at 04:58:45 AM

Hello Accursed,

It's the final Wednesday of the month, and that means it's Curseborne update day! It's the shortest month of the year, so we'll keep this update fairly quick (relatively). First up, this month's Curseborne Tasty Bit is now available on DriveThruRPG.com.

NEXUS

Some people have all the luck. Random circumstances always seem to favor them, and the odds are meaningless when it comes to how often randomness chooses them.

Nexuses have the most luck; unfortunately for them and everyone around them, it’s all bad. That bad luck makes them a magnet for stray curses, random catastrophes, and unlucky events. Anyone can be particularly unlucky without being a Nexus. But once a Nexus starts to accumulate curses, they transform from a normal person into a dangerous supernatural entity with few recourses other than death.

No one knows what makes a Nexus, but they do know the effects of one the moment it starts to gather strength. Bad luck follows them, as do random curses. As they move through the world, they draw curses toward them in a swirling flood, like water rushing down a drain. They stand at the epicenter of the most horrible shit you’ve ever seen, unable to help themselves or anyone caught up in the disasters surrounding them.

Availale in PDF: Storypath Tasty Bit: Nexus for Curseborne!

Rewards Still Pending

No major changes, work continues behind the scenes and progress is being made, but no new dots to color in yet.

Final Days!

In Trinity Continuum: Steam Wars, your player characters are the crewmembers of a war rig, venturing into battles against people from far off countries, aligned to ideals different than their own, and trying to preserve their peace, their way of life, or their rich deposits of a new, bizarre energy source: condensed coal. Your characters — the crewmembers of these war rigs — are as likely to be enlisted crooks as they are commissioned officers; gung-ho patriots as common as conscripted people from the imperial powers’ colonies. They fight because they have to. But in the fear and fog of battle, bonds form, friendships and rivalries grow, and legends are made.

Trinity Continuum: Steam Wars takes place outside the Trinity Continuum's "Alpha" timeline -- the worlds explored from Aegis to Æon -- taking place in a parallel reality, setting the stage for new adventures and discoveries.

Trinity Continuum: Steam Wars contains:

  • A complete setting based on the acclaimed graphic novel Steam Wars® with writing by Larry Blamire.
  • Detailed rules on piloting, managing, and fighting massive coal-powered giant war rigs in a parallel 19th century.
  • Six different roles you can perform on a steam rig, along with more than half a dozen Alliances involving in the Second Steam War that you can fight, ally with, or sabotage.
  • Storyguide advice, secrets, hooks, and plots, to enable you to start your game of Trinity Continuum: Steam Wars

January 2025 Monthly Update
over 1 year ago – Wed, Jan 29, 2025 at 10:31:57 AM

Hello Accursed,

We start off regular monthly updates for 2025 in pretty standard form. We'll review our rewards still pending, we'll confirm which rewards have been distribued, and we'll have links to find more information, to discuss this project, and notes on how to contact me. We'll also have a new feature every month for 2025 - a new bit of content available for Curseborne each month!

On the last Wednesday of each month - coincidentally on the day that I'll regularly use to post our monthly Kickstarter updates - Onyx Path releases a "Tasty Bit" supplement; these snack-sized treats add a bit of fun to your game. For 2025, they'll be focused on adding material for Curseborne, and the first one is now available in PDF at DriveThruRPG.com

The Doppleganger

The Doppelganger presents the first in a year of monthly adversaries for the Curseborne RPG. Within these pages, you’ll find a new shapeshifting, identity destroying threat known as the doppelganger.

Alongside traits and powers aimed at different tiers of play, this book includes a selection of story seeds and hooks so you can create one or more sessions of play surrounding the doppelganger adversary.

Available in PDF: Storypath Tasty Bit: The Doppelganger for Curseborne!

Rewards Still Pending

The developers have concluded their work incorporating all of our feedback into the Curseborne manuscript and it is now revised and back to the Editing stage. I'll post teasers whenever something becomes available and look forward to watching the dots fill in over the next months as the Onyx Path team works to get the backer PDF to us later this year.

Work has also begun on the Tangled Webs supplement, with writers contracted and working on their first drafts! More fun ahead!
