Howl's it going, Accursed?
We're at the final wednesday of the month, and that means Curseborne update day!
Weeping Scars
Weeping Scars presents the eighth in a year of monthly adversaries for the Curseborne RPG. Within these pages, you’ll find a new threat sprung forth from human cruelty and pain. Weeping scars are shattered spaces that draw people in and feed on their fear, pain, and regret. As they foster negative emotions, they swell in size, engulfing everything in their path.
Alongside traits and powers, this book includes a selection of story seeds and hooks so you can introduce weeping scars into your Curseborne stories.
REVISED MANUSCRIPT
As most of you know, the writers and developers spent a lot of time taking in the feedback during our kickstarter campaign to refine the manuscript and guide it through the next steps of editing and development. Matthew Dawkins has shared a lot of new details and developments in his extensive Gentleman's Guide to Curseborne videos (seriously, check them out if you can. There's a lot of videos and a lot of great information) and now the team is ready to share some of the fruits of those labors with you.
Last month we had the revised write up for The Hungry. This month, we've got The Primals! The revised manuscript download link will be coming your way today from our BackerKit Pledge Manager - you'll get an e-mail from your Pledge Manager page with all of your links to available rewards. So, look for that shortly.
If you need to review your information or pledge status, you can return to your survey by clicking the link in your survey email or requesting your survey link under "Lost your survey?" on our BackerKit project page at https://curseborne.backerkit.com
PENDING REWARDS
Our main reward, the Curseborne core rulebook, is in layout and proceeding along! This month, the Adventure supplement we unlocked via Stretch Goal has also moved forward, now in the post-manuscript approval development phase.

Launching Tomorrow: Monster Kingdoms
Sign up here to be notified when we go live!
In Monster Kingdoms, you play a creature of darkness. You may be vampiric magus, or feyborn harlequin. You might be a warrior gauntlet, an orc cultist, a druidic elf, or a flame-spitting dragonkin. You can play a wildly creative goblinoid, a chaotic dwarf, a fierce ice elementor, or a shame-filled fiend. Your characters can be anything from hulking dreadnauts to disturbing mentalists, and many Mantles in between.
Name your weapon and make it your sceptre.
Slay a beast and seize its crown.
Build your infamy either as a monster or as a servant of the light. Perform deeds worthy of repute: vanquishing a beast greater than yourself, toppling a lord from his tower and seizing control of his lands and people, or freeing slaves to weaken the Malignant Mind. A character’s infamy is a means of measuring their success in the Monster Kingdoms, whether virtuous or vicious. The only unworthy deeds are the ones no one hears about.
In the chaos of the Monster Kingdoms, now is your time to make a mark and shape the world to your liking.
Monster Kingdoms is a complete tabletop roleplaying game of dark fantasy, where evil is a natural state, adventure boasts horror and violence, and politics are cutthroat. It includes:
- A massive number of playable monstrous characters.
- A dangerous setting encompassing 13 unique, competing kingdoms.
- The entire dynamic Storypath Ultra system.
July 2025 Update [Revised Manuscript Preview - The Hungry]

Hello Accursed!
It's almost the end of July, it's hot and humid where I live, and it's time for another great Curseborne update!
MASTER CAT
Throughout history, there have been tales of cats acting as familiars to wizards, witches, and mystics. In many cases, it’s simply that such practitioners feel lonely and want some companionship. Occasionally, the cat acts as a kind of guardian, or maybe is actually a magical familiar.
Rarely, though, the roles are reversed. A cat appears in the world full of inhuman intelligence, and it takes control of a human being. The person it connects to suddenly hears a cat talking to them, and the target feels unnaturally drawn to it. These master cats can control their human pets directly by possessing them, but they can also plant suggestions in their mind to act upon. And if the human in question ever decided they want to break away from the master cat… well, who is going to believe that a housecat is talking to them and telling them what to do?
Curseborne: Master Cat is an antagonist for use in Curseborne.

May 2025 Update

– Wed, May 28, 2025 at 08:58:48 AM
Hello Accursed,
I don't have much news to share with you in this update, but I do have a great place to learn more about Curseborne! Coming in just over a week...
Onyx Path Virtual Gaming Convention 2025 is just around the corner! As they enter the final weeks of preparation, the schedule is settling in. Some panels and actual plays needed minor tweaks, which is normal for this stage of the game. People’s availability shifts and schedule issues bubble up, but so far they’ve been able to roll with the punches pretty easily and are on track for a smooth, fun, and informative show!
They’re also getting games for attendees to play ramped up via Startplaying.games. There are already a few games set up, and your encouraged to consider setting one up yourself, if you like running games! It’s a great opportunity to try out games you might not otherwise get the chance to, meet new players, and make a few bucks. Onyx Path's partners at Envoy who run convention games for them will also be running games via Startplaying.games and those entries will be showing up very soon at https://startplaying.games/event/onyx-path-2025!
As noted, all panels will be streaming on Onyx Path's Twitch channel running Friday June 6 - Sunday June 8, and Actual Plays will be streaming at Plastic Age Plays channel. I'd suggest checking out
- On Friday June 6 at 6:30 PM EDT, the Making of Curseborne panel will focus on the road up to last year’s reveal of Curseborne at Onyx Path Con. From the concept, to the look, to the video teasers released in the lead up, this panel will provide a look at where Curseborne has come from.
- On Saturday June 7 at 1:00 PM EDT, the Curseborne Player’s Guide Preview/ Q&A and Character Creation panel will dive into options available to players in Curseborne and take a look at what’s to come in the Curseborne Player’s Guide.
- On Sunday June 8 at 11:00 AM EDT, the Future of Curseborne panel willlook at recent releases, such as the Tasty Bits and the updated Ashcan Edition, but also discuss the immediate future of the line and beyond.
Symbol of Murder
Symbol of Murder presents the fifth in a year of monthly adversaries for the Curseborne RPG. Within these pages, you’ll find a new phantasmal threat made up from a collection of tormented spirits. The Symbol of Murder is the terror of any necromancer and a true blight in any city, providing a lasting echo of suffering and death.
Alongside traits and powers aimed at different tiers of play, this Tasty Bit includes a selection of story seeds and hooks so you can create one or more sessions of play surrounding the Symbol of Murder adversary.
Rewards Still Pending

April 2025 Update
– Wed, Apr 30, 2025 at 07:37:01 AM
Hello Accursed!
It's the final Wednesday of the month, and that means it's Curseborne Day! So it's time for our regular monthly update. First up, Onyx Path's latest "Tasty Bit" antagonist for your Curseborne game.
The Quisivore
Many of the Accursed — particularly the Ascetic and Archivist Families — ask a lot of questions about the world around them. Most know that asking the wrong kinds of questions of the wrong kind of people or in the wrong kinds of places can get you killed. Very few realize that even the act of asking a question can be horrifying. Thus is the nature of the quisivore.
It appears to be a different kind of predator, one who only feeds on human curiosity. For some strange reason, it’s unable to ask a question itself, and can only feed on those who do ask questions. However, it isn’t one of the Hungry, or even one of the Accursed. As far as anyone who has ever run into one has reported, it’s a pile of strange red ooze that’s able to take a human shape. If it was ever a human, it clearly isn’t one now.
Rewards Still Pending
The manuscript for our main reward is now in the final development stage, having moved on from Editing. The Tangled Webs supplement has also advanced into it's spot in Editing (and it looks like I've got a dot to fill in there on Development! Next month!), and the Curseborne Fiction Anthology is now it first draft status. Bits and pieces moving forward.
