What system does this game use?
Curseborne uses Onyx Path’s Storypath Ultra system. The Storypath Ultra system is designed so every action drives the story forward, as well as creating a reaction or new story element. You can read a quick summary on our Kickstarter page (under “Storypath Ultra”) and check out a free outline of the Storypath Ultra system on DriveThruRPG.com.

Do you need the Storypath Ultra Core Manual to play? Does this require another book to play?
Everything you need to play the Curseborne RPG is contained in the book we’re Kickstarting with this project. Curseborne contains instructions on how to use this book to play a game. You’ll find the chapters on how to play the game using the Storypath Ultra system, how to create a character, all the cool powers those characters have, and information on how to run a game of Curseborne.
You may be thinking of the old blue nWoD book that was necessary to play games in that line (though second edition pretty much were all self-contained), or looking at Scion: Origin or the Trinity Conintuum Core Rulebook and thinking that Curseborne is built on top of a “starter book” for building a normal person and then Curseborne applies a template on top. This is not the case. The Curseborne book has all the rules you need to play the game.

I've heard of the Storypath Ultra Core Manual and seen it listed as an Add On. Do I need that to play? How does that interact with Curseborne?
The Storypath Ultra Core Manual was recently funded via a successful crowdfunding campaign, and you can add a pre-order for the PDF to your rewards list via Add On. The Storypath Ultra (SPU) Core Manual takes the rules and systems from games like Curseborne and At the Gates and The World Below and removes all of the setting-specific items and presents the generic system for you to use to fuel ideas in your home games. It’s a toolbox for you to use to assemble your own ideas and extra bits for your game.
If you like to tinker and create your own homebrew takes on your games, the SPU Core Manual might help you figure out how to create some things you can “bolt on” to Curseborne, but isn’t needed to play the game.

What can Sorcerers do with their spells? What forms can a Primal take? Are Outcasts strictly demons or angels?
I appreciate your enthusiasm, excitement, and eagerness! Here’s what I’ll say - we are now past the first thrilling day of the Kickstarter campaign, where longtime backers rush in to grab some low backer numbers (I was number 4!) and people want to be part of the initial discourse and lock down premium rewards as early as possible.
Now that we’re past that first stage… we’ve got a whole month for this campaign. Some of the answers to the questions I’ve just posted are taken directly from the Kickstarter campaign page. Many of the answers to other questions will come with the manuscript previews available to backers as we progress through the campaign. We’ll need some patience as answers come to us over the days of October. By Hallwe’en, we’ll all know exactly what is in this book and have the answers to most of our questions.

What is BackerKit?
BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!
The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.
How does BackerKit work?
After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.
I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?
The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.
Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.
To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.
How do I update my shipping address?
BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.
When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?
That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.
I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?
As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
ARTWORK, DESIGN, MATERIAL & CONTENTS SUBJECT TO CHANGE. Onyx Path shares artwork, design, descriptions and manuscript contents with the understanding that changes may occur in the creation of the final product based on further development, available resources and materials, and the nature of the creative process.
DIGITAL REWARDS and DISCOUNTED COST LINKS. You will be notified by BackerKit when digital rewards and discounted cost links become available to you. Typically, these will be links to load PDF titles into your account library on DriveThruRPG.com or to order a Print-on-Demand version from DriveThruRPG's PoD partners. The links from BackerKit must be activated within 120 days to ensure the titles are added to your library or are available at the discounted rate, after which the links may expire and Onyx Path may not be able to provide replacements. If you do not accept these terms, please do not pledge on this project but instead wait for the general release.
ADDRESS CONFIRMATION & DELIVERY OBLIGATIONS. If you confirm your pledge prior to final address confirmation and initiation of distribution notification via email, you agree that our responsibility to you is to ship your order as entered into our pledge manager system, that title and risk passes to you upon delivery to a common carrier for such shipment, and you are responsible for import duties or any other duties that may be payable to the relevant tax authorities, providing correct address information and ensuring this address is deliverable by normal methods. Failure to confirm mailing address prior to final request and distribution notification will be taken as agreement that all obligations have been met and no further action or effort is required on the part of Onyx Path. We will attempt to alert you via the methods provided by BackerKit, primarily e-mail, prior to distribution of rewards to avoid any issue, but once we’ve made all reasonable efforts, we must move on with other business and will be unable to make exceptions.
